The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former President of Haryana Congress, In-charge of Uttarakhand, former Union Minister, member of the Congress Working Committee, and MP from the Sirsa Lok Sabha seat (Congress India Alliance), Kumari Selja said that while the investigation into the NEET paper leak was still ongoing, the government has now plunged the future of millions of students into darkness by canceling the UGC NET June 2024 exam due to a paper leak. The hardworking candidates are left with only tears in their eyes. Who will account for their months of hard work? Such negligence and malpractice in the field of education are unacceptable under any circumstances. We will fight strongly for the rights of the students from the streets to the parliament against the government in this paper leak case.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that since last night, she has received calls and messages from hundreds of students who appeared for the exam, and they have only tears in their eyes. Who will account for their months of hard work? Kumari Selja said that such negligence and malpractice in the field of education are unacceptable under any circumstances. Is this the BJP’s new education policy? Why such a huge play with the future of the students? We will fight strongly for the rights of the students from the streets to the parliament against the government in this paper leak case. Kumari Selja said that the UGC NET exam was held on June 18 and was canceled on June 19. Over 11 lakh candidates had applied for the exam, and 9 lakh 8 thousand 580 candidates appeared. The UGC NET June 2024 session exam was canceled by the Ministry of Education due to the suspicion of malpractice in the exam. It is said that the government was informed about the malpractice by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center.

Kumari Selja said that the UGC NET exam was organized for a total of 83 subjects on June 18 in two shifts across 1205 centers in 317 cities nationwide. A total of 11,21,225 candidates had registered for this exam, including 6,35,587 women, 4,85,579 men, and 59 third-gender candidates. A total of 9,08,580 candidates appeared for the exam. The biggest issue was that the convenience of the candidates was not considered while setting up the exam centers, which were 200 to 250 km away. She urged the University Grants Commission and the National Testing Agency to re-conduct the exam as soon as possible to provide justice to the affected candidates. She also said that they would strongly fight for the rights of the students from the streets to the parliament against the government in this paper leak case.
