The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has said that under the BJP government’s tenure in Haryana, no examination has been conducted transparently. Irregularities are found in every exam, and paper leaks have become commonplace. Recently, irregularities were exposed in the MBBS examination, where answer sheets were rewritten in both annual and supplementary exams. The government is playing with the future of the youth, and due to its negligence, Haryana has now become infamous as a paper-leak factory.
In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that since the BJP came to power in the state, no examination has been conducted without disruptions. Paper leaks have become a regular occurrence, and large-scale cheating incidents have come to light. Cases of answer sheets being tampered with, taken outside, and exam supervisors facilitating cheating have been reported. Most state examinations have witnessed paper leaks, earning Haryana the label of a “paper-leak factory.” A lack of transparency in exams affects the most talented candidates, as those with good written scores are sidelined in interviews by giving low marks to favor others. Kumari Selja said that betrayal of talent must not happen.
She said that the recent MBBS examination scam in the state and stressed the need for making exam supervisors more accountable. Steps could have been taken earlier to ensure accountability. Supervisors should be monitored for the timing of opening and distributing question papers, collecting answer sheets, and submitting them to the university. Exam centers with a history of irregularities should be blacklisted. The MBBS exam irregularities are a grave offense, and rewriting answer sheets in both annual and supplementary exams is impossible without a conspiracy. The government must take strict action against cheating mafias. Such mafias operate through employees to orchestrate exam scams, and strict measures should be taken against such employees after identifying them.
